I/O is the result of a series of reflections on the space of social interaction between individuals.
It develops in a series of performances in which the aim is to establish a “mediated” interaction with the visitor.
At the entrance of the designated space for the performance the spectator is faced with a situation that could be called stasis. At a time when the visitor approaches and crosses the space of “switch” the visual configuration of the space change and with it also the visual relationship diagram – established with the performer.
The images are taken from the documentation of two performances that reflect on different characteristics of human communication using the same performative structure.
The performances have been staged respectively in 2014 and in 2105 at Con.divisione art residency program curated by Fabio Caccuri and Ana Martinez Area.

At the entrance to the space, the visitor find the performer seated behind, looks a pulsating light that comes from above, and lies within the circle of light.
When the visitor approaches, the light goes out and he is dazzled by a flashlight that force him to retreat.
At this point the space returns to the stasis position and the performer returns in the circle of light.

In this case, the performer lye on the ground in a narrow space, objects that recall the idea of abandonment and degradation are willing to his side in a niche.
The leg of the performers is tied up by a rope that runs like a spider web across the space and does not allow him to advance if not a few meters.
When the visitor is close to the niche the performer stands up, approaches to the point of immobility and bars the way to the visitor who can not watch inside.
When the visitor moves away the performer returns in the stasis position.
